This week marked the 25th birthday of the smiley face emoticon. It was first used by Carnegie Mellon University professor Scott E. Fahlman in a bulletin board post at 11:44 am on Sept 19, 1982 where he proposed it’s use to mark a joke.

NASA has released a new logo to celebrate it being 50 years old. NASA’s “birthday” is October 1, 1958.
I like the logo, it reminds me a little of 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Google updated Google Earth a couple of weeks ago to include Google Sky which consists of about one hundred million stars and two hundred million galaxies to explore from your desktop. This is not the only thing Google updated however, the geeks at Google also included a fully working flight simulator with the latest update!
