Earth-like planet found

Astronomers from the European Southern Observatory in Chile have discovered the most “earth-like” extrasolar planet spotted so far.
The planet is in orbit around a red dwarf star called Gliese 581 which is 20 light years away in the direction of the constellation Libra.
Initial measurements suggest that the planet, called Gliese 581C, is about 1.5 times the size of the Earth and orbits closely around its sun taking just 13 of our days to complete an orbit.
Conditions on Gliese 581C are believed to be suitable for life with average surface temperatures in the range needed to sustain liquid water.
I have always believed that we are not alone in the Universe and this discovery strengthens my belief. I wonder if the “Gliesens” have spotted us orbiting our yellow sun yet?
It’s an interesting thought. :)
