Space Shuttle flying to the Moon
This image of the Space Shuttle Atlantis on top of it’s 747 carrier was captured by NASA’s Carla Thomas at Edwards Air Force Base on July 1, 2007.
NASA has 2 modified 747 jumbo jets which are used as carriers to return shuttles from landing sites back to the launch complex at Kennedy Space Center.
