Dell chooses Ubuntu

It’s not official yet but we all expected it. DesktopLinux.com are reporting that Dell’s Linux pick is, you guessed it, Ubuntu! This shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone after Dell founder and CEO Michael Dell recently announced that he runs Ubuntu on his home laptop.

The rumor is that Dell will begin shipping systems later this month with the newly released Ubuntu 7.04. It is expected that initially the open source option will be available on three systems, a Dell e-series “Essential” Dimension desktop, an XPS desktop, and an e-series Inspiron laptop.

The world will soon be a better place :)

Open source.
