Creepy video conferencing robot

The Giraffe video conferencing robot from HeadThere makes it possible for you to be in two places at once. The 5 foot, 8 inch tall robot brings something new to video conferencing — an actual physical presence. The user can operate the robot remotely over the internet, absorbing information with a 2.1-megapixel, 8x zoom camera and microphone. It has a speaker for a mouth so that you can chat with your employees and coworkers and a 14.1 inch LCD screen for a head which is tiltable so that you can nod knowingly in meetings. The robot can also adjust to about 4 and half feet in height so that you can interact with someone who’s seated. Priced at somewhere between $1,800 and $3,000, the Giraffe robot should be available next year.

It looks like an interesting device, although without a camera in the back of this things head it is certain to be a victim of many an office prank. I can just see it wheeling into an important meeting with a big “Kick Me” sign stuck on it’s back. :)
