Anti-hijack remote control system

Boeing is developing a tamper-proof remote controlled autopilot system to combat terrorism that could be ready within three years. The system can be activated manually by the pilots or by pressure sensors installed in the cockpit door. Once activated it cannot be turned off and the plane is then guided to a landing spot (such as a secure military base) by remote control and landed using existing landing aids known as “autoland function.”

The whole thing sounds like an excellent idea in theory, lets just hope that the system is secure enough so that terrorists can’t enable it remotely and control aircraft from their living rooms.
