Web developers have a range of methods to weed out bots and make humans prove that they are in fact human. One common technique is to present the user with a messed up image of letters or numbers that the user then needs to decipher or to pose a simple arithmetic problem that the user is required to solve.

My favourite method though would have to be Hot Captcha. The user is presented with 9 pictures ripped off the Hot or Not website and has to pick the three hotties to get validated as human. Too bad if you have bad taste as this may prove to be a problem if Hot Captcha gets widely adopted.
