Crossing the street with an iPod may be banned in N.Y.

Crossing the street while listening to your iPod may soon be illegal in New York if planned legislation is adopted. The decision to file the legislation is the result of three recent events where pedestrians where killed while listening to iPods and as a result were oblivious to their surroundings.
“The individuals were tuned into iPods and tuned out to the surroundings around them, and they stepped off the curb into the path of an oncoming bus or truck or car,” he said. “All three were fatally injured. In one case people, were screaming at the person to watch out, but the person couldn’t hear them because iPod [headphones] were in the person’s ears.”
If the law gets passed then offenders will face $100 fines.
