Stirling University researchers have studied the faces of Britain’s top 20 comedians, blended them together and come up with what they believe is the perfect face for comedy.

 

They found that the face most likely to make us laugh was rounded, had a wide nose, small forehead and feminine features. The researchers also reckon that the U.K. comedian Ricky Gervais is the closest fit to the ideal comedic face.

Gervais was”shocked” by the results. He said: “All these years I asssumed my global success as a comedian was down to my acute observations, expert directional rendering and consumate skills as a performer - turns out it’s because I’ve got a fat girly face.”

The researchers believe that the feminine featured face is approachable and helps us to relax which can assist in giving us the impression that such comedians are friendly and funny.
